This is an important interview, which I hope is watched widely. Francesca's frankness and honesty are refreshing - or would be if the subject matter weren't so dire.
Which is why I'm reluctant to address the subject of *The Holocaust", the primacy of Jewish Suffering and their eternal innocence. - Things in which Francesca Albanese obviously genuinely believes,
I'm pleased she's not of the "vengeful, jealous, genocidal god" cult which seems to define so many of her fellow Jews (not to absolve a culpable West for it's part in so many atrocities).
But supremacism is supremacism, even when it's the supremacy of ones, or ones group's, perceived suffering.
That's why I'd like to gently remind the very lovely Ms Albanese that many tens of millions of souls lost their lives during that bloodiest, and most lied about, war in human history. Each of whom had families that suffered as a result
Thank you (and you Mr Hedges) for speaking out. 🙏💚🇵🇸
I found myself mentally nodding vigorously to "(My only reservation here: the so-called “Jewish Holocaust” that we have all been told about endlessly ever since the 1960s sorely needs to be re-examined by everyone, including Albanese and Hedges. So many continue refer to it as a kind of “gold standard” by which to measure all other extreme cruelties by people against other people.)".
From a semantic verbiage point of view, there are couple ways to reclaim the word holocaust. We could use it without qualification to refer to the ongoing Gaza genocide and not be apologetic about it. We could also use it willy-nilly to refer to all other genocides such as the chruchill-inflicted Bengal famine of 1942 where upwards of 3M folks perished. Or the American supported German genocide and rape of at least 1M Germans post-world war2 etc. That way we first remove jews' ability to use that word for themselves alone.
Thank you, Panjandrum! I agree with your proposals.
There is at least an open discussion today about the matter in some corners, even if most people even in the alt media still cling to these hoary myths.
Questioning the actions of Israel in Gaza is a first huge step that opens the door to upending this other, longstanding official historical falsehood. But wow - this has been achieved at what cost? Only the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, a people who will bear the scars of a real holocaust perpetrated against them for many generations!
I agree with your last comment as well. I posted about this in my now nuked X account a similar related thought. That IMO, Hamas’s main thoughtful goal in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was neither immediate liberation nor military success but simply to alert the world of the evil, unmorality, moral vacuum that is Israel . A year+ of this, capping with the ongoing Jabaliya massacre/siege has surely cemented this take-away in billions of us. Prior to this, many of us were pro-Palestine but oblivious to the sustained depravity of Israeli citizens. So in that Hamas achieved its goal spectacularly but like you say - at tremendous cost to the people of Gaza - a holocaust.
Oh! I'm sorry to hear about the censoring of your Twitter account! Musk's site has had a checkered history w.r.t. suppressing the truths and truth-tellers on Israel's psychopathies in Palestine. While I have hardly any influence there, even my teeny-tiny account was shadow-banned for a while a few months ago!
Yes, there is no turning back for most of the world from this stark realization about Israel's monstrous actions, thank goodness. We just need to keep hammering upon it in any way we can until most people know the facts! Thank you for all you do for this just cause!
