My Fav Journalist. Especially on Geopolitics.
Just Wanting to Highlight a Good Person & an Excellent Journalist.
(Hope to avoid too much geopolitical commentary, but just wanted to introduce readers to the fine independent journalist (a real one!), Vanessa Beeley, who posts here on Substack.)
I love Vanessa’s invaluable, on-the-ground, reality- and fact-based, as well as historically-informed viewpoints and observations here. These are rare to find, especially among the popular, self-styled commentators and online “journalists” (researchers).
I especially lean more towards Vanessa’s world view on all these current events.
What I’ve learned from Vanessa is simple: it’s that no matter what happens “out there,” we all still have human agency. I would say, that’s guided by the grace and mercy of God. Yes, no matter how small and limited it might seem to be in our eyes.
I resist the demoralizing, dystopic view of many about all these concepts, developments and agendas. I prefer to avoid continual exposure to those who promote such negativity on social media. It may offer some sense of excitement, perhaps a space for expressing quasi-cathartic outrage—but in my case, it also leaves me with a soul-destroying sense of frustration and helplessness, and a surrender to the dispiriting outlook that only serves to please the predator class.
Nice to see Grace, here, too—who hails from the same tropical land that raised me. She’s lucky to call Vanessa a friend.
Tiny personal anecdote: Vanessa has shown herself to be a genuine “virtual” friend, too, to someone she knows not from Eve. I saw that in action in my previous Substack life, during a little online episode of unpleasantness involving an obnoxious other entity. Will never forget her swift action of support and kindness then.
