So Few Go Public Like This Today, So This Good Act Warrants Recognition: Resigning from State in Protest Over Gaza
Would that more did this, too.
Somewhat comforting to know that there are still persons with decency, humanity, and a functioning conscience and moral compass who are working in government today. Yet, one wonders how many others in this administration feel the same way on this issue as Annelle does — but who, for one reason or another, cannot simply walk off their jobs as she has.
Annelle Sheline had become so distraught over the Biden Administration’s full support for Israel’s clear acts of genocide against the Palestinians that she felt she could no longer continue to work at the Department of State. And so she tendered her resignation a few months ago. Listen to her story below — and find out why she went public with it.
Francesca Albanese is featured briefly in the video. (She’s the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs). She has been very vocal in speeches and talks with the press and on social media about her vehement objections to the horrific actions of Israel against the Palestinians. Israel has banned her from visiting the OPTs. She continues to be harassed, censored and libeled by certain groups who want to suppress such courageous, public truth-tellers.)
There’s a dozen more like Annele Sheline. Hala Rharrit, Craig Mokhiber, Stacy Gilbert, Andrew Miller, Josh Paul, Alexander Smith and from the military - Harrison Mann, MOHAMMED ABU HASHEM, Riley Livermore. Some of the military folks were inspired after Aaron Bushnell. Please update this list if i have missed some which I think I have
